Afternoon with the Altizer Family

Saturday afternoon, we visited the Altizer Family. Baby Cora is about 10 weeks old - she is so precious! Lauren and Cora ate, slept, and ate some more.
Toward the end of our visit, Cora and Lauren were both awake. They looked so cute as they stared and cooed at each other.
Oops, showing a little middrift here!
Lance makes Lauren smile!

Cute Outfit from "Aunt" Hope

Let me tell you about Hope. Hope May is a very dear friend of mine from college. We had our first apartment together and experienced MANY times of laughter and fun. She was maid of honor in our wedding. If you know Hope for more than two minutes, you know what a precious person she is. She also has red hair! We bonded instantly. Well, Hope was overjoyed to learn that Lauren was born with red hair. So, Hope selected this outfit just for Lauren. The blues and browns look great with her hair and complexion. Hopey - this blog is for you! Thank you again for the precious outfit. I thought of you all day today as Lauren wore this trendy number. The fashion police drove by and waved thumbs up!

Handmade Shoes for Lauren

I found a simple pattern to make baby shoes from felt and ribbon. Yes, I know these are white shoes and it is after Labor Day, but felt only comes in a limited variety of colors. I can't wait for her to wear these to church!

My New Green Blankie

Mommy says I look good in green - what do you think? My new green blankie is SO soft. I really like soft things now. Mommy made me pose for more photos - whew - being four months old is exhausting. I took a four hour nap after this one!

Bedtime Bible Story

Thanks to all of you who have given Lauren books! We are enjoying reading to her. We especially enjoy watching her reaction as pages are turned. We are only able to get through half a book at a time because of her short attention span. But she really is starting to focus on the images and variety of colors with each turn of the page.

This week Lauren was introduced to soft pink bunny. While she is holding bunny, I frequently find at least one of bunny's ears in her mouth!

The Bond Family Visit

Lance's neice, DeAnn and her husband Mickey came to town for a visit. Lance always puts Mickey to work. It took all day to replace the fuel pump in Lance's truck.

DeAnn and I took Lauren to the beauty shop for the first time. Only me and DeAnn got beautified - Lauren does not need a haircut or eye brow waxing just yet!

Shane is doing justs fine since his delicate yet necessary procedure a couple of weeks ago. He quickly recouperated and is back to chasing birds and swimming in the pond.

Trip to Town

Tuesday, Lauren and I spent all day in town. Whew, I don't know who was more tired, she or me! Her nap schedule was disturbed. That means everyone else within earshot was disturbed by her crying - ha. The employees at the store just picked her up and started trying to soothe her. One of the customers standing in line also tried her hand at soothing baby Lauren. Nothing would help except a nap.

Here's one smiling moment. I met my friend, Lisa, in town. She had not seen Lauren since her birth. What a sweet time we had!

My New Toy

I am a traveler now. Yes, I visit the Rainforest many times a day. Well, at least I visit the Rainforest that is located in my living room. Grammy and Papa gave me a neat toy that plays fun music, lights up and has repositionable elephants, tucans, butterflies and giraffes. I am able to reach up and make the elephant spin, and I can pinch the bird's tail with two of my fingers.

Send Your Sympathies! (a note from Lauren)

Please, everybody, send your sympathies to me. Look, my mom gave me a black eye. Yes, my first black eye and my mom gave it to me. Well, she certainly did not mean to. It happened by accident when she placed me into my swing, I slightly tipped over to the right side and my right cheekbone bumped the plastic. Boy did I cry - but not as much as my mommy cried. She apologized and rocked me and cuddled me the rest of the afternoon.

I'm alright, no need to worry about me. Mommy and daddy love me and cuddle me and feed me just fine!

Madison's First Birthday

Here's Madison, the birthday girl. Madison was born one year ago this week. The day Madison was born, was the day that Lance and I found out we were pregnant. What a sweet memory to associate with a sweet girl!

Madison loves blueberries, so her mom made her a Blueberry Smash Pie. She had a fun time eating her yummy birthday pie!

On the Way to a Birthday Party

Lauren is all dressed up to attend our neighbor, Madison Minerick's, first birthday party. We could not get a photo of her smiling. Here are some photos of what Lauren does best - cry. No doubt, it is her nap time!

New Discovery

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons! What fun Lauren had with the curly ribbons on LillyAnn's birthday package. Lauren sat in her little chair pulling the ribbons and putting them into her mouth at least 30 minutes. I think I will keep handy an empty box wrapped with ribbon to distract her during her ever so frequent episodes of fussiness.
